Hathaway Span #9 - Stage 1 West lies in the Gulf waters off the Florida Panhandle, part of an artificial reef system made from bridge span sections placed to create structure on an otherwise open sandy bottom. It reaches a maximum depth of around 34 metres, which puts it in deeper water typical of the offshore reef sites in this stretch of the Gulf.
