About this site
The Hispania lies in the Sound of Mull, off Argyll and Bute on Scotland's west coast. She was a Swedish steamship that struck rocks and sank in the mid-1950s while carrying a cargo that included wine. The wreck sits on a sloping seabed running from shallower water down to around 35 metres or more, largely intact and popular with divers exploring the Sound of Mull from Lochaline or Tobermory. Soft corals and anemones cover much of the structure, and the site is often dived as a drift or shot dive depending on conditions, with the deeper sections and current in the Sound making it better suited to divers with some experience.
