About this site
HMS Vixen is a Victorian-era Royal Navy gunboat scuttled off Daniel's Head near the western end of Bermuda, at the entrance to the Great Sound, where she was sunk deliberately to block a channel and deny enemy vessels access. The wreck sits upright in shallow water not far from shore, making her one of the more accessible historic wrecks in Bermuda's waters. Her iron hull is largely intact and encrusted with growth typical of Bermuda's reef platform, and she is often paired on dive itineraries with other wrecks and reef sites in the same area west of the island.
