About this site
Hole in the Wall sits on Turneffe Atoll, the largest atoll in the Belize Barrier Reef system, east of Belize City in the Caribbean Sea. The site drops through a cave and overhead environment to a maximum depth of around 106 metres, making it a technical dive rather than a recreational one. Turneffe's reef edges are known for steep drop-offs, and this wall is reached by boat from the lodges and liveaboards based on the atoll. Divers exploring the cave here have reported glassfish, grouper, and octopus, and the overhead terrain itself is a factor to plan around given the depth involved.
