About this site
Cabilao Island sits off the northwest coast of Bohol in the Visayas region of the Philippines, within the Cebu Strait. The House Reef refers to the fringing reef directly in front of one of the island's dive resorts, accessible straight from shore rather than by boat. It's a beginner-friendly reef dive reaching a maximum depth of around 28 metres, with frogfish a regular find on the bottom. Divers have also reported angelfish, barracuda, blue-ringed octopus, ghost pipefish, harlequin shrimp, mandarinfish, and sea turtles here, making it a popular spot for macro life alongside Cabilao's better-known walls and slopes on the island's western side. Boat mooring ropes and some coral damage have also been noted at the site.
