About this site
The HTMS Chang wreck lies off Koh Chang in the Gulf of Thailand and is Thailand's biggest shipwreck. The Royal Thai Navy intentionally sank the vessel in 2012 to create an artificial reef, and it has since developed into a rich habitat for marine life. Reaching the site takes a 30–40 minute boat ride from shore.
The wreck sits in a depth range of 3–32 m (the bottom reaching around 30–32 m), making it an advanced-level dive. Visibility varies considerably, from 5 m up to 20 m depending on conditions, and the best season to dive here runs from November through May, when water temperatures hold between 26–30°C.
Marine life on and around the wreck includes batfish, barracuda, groupers, lionfish, and scorpionfish, all drawn to the structure as an artificial reef habitat.
