Htms Chang Wreck

The HTMS Chang is a decommissioned Thai Navy tank landing ship scuttled off Koh Chang in Trat province as an artificial reef and dive attraction. It sits in the waters of the Eastern Gulf of Thailand near Koh Khlum, part of a set of ex-navy ships intentionally sunk in this area to develop diving in the region. The wreck bottoms out around 22 metres and is rated an advanced dive, with penetration made more demanding by furniture blocking doors and hatches, locked doors, and wires and lights hanging from the ceilings in places. Barracuda and batfish are regularly seen around the hull, and divers have also reported fusilier, grouper, snapper, squid, trevally, triggerfish, and even whale shark passing through. Marine growth has developed on the structure since it was sunk, and the combination of depth, layout, and hazards inside the holds keeps this one geared toward experienced wreck divers.
