Il Canyon Fantasma lies along the coastline near Lecce, in the Salento area of Puglia, at the heel of Italy where the Adriatic and Ionian seas meet. This stretch of coast is known for its limestone seabed formations, and a site described as a canyon suggests a rocky fissure or cleft typical of the region's karst shore.
