About this site
Takana Drop-off (高那ドロップ) is a wall site off Iriomote Island in the Yaeyama Islands, Okinawa, dived at depths of 6 to 30 m from June to September under east to south winds. The dive follows a drop-off that falls from the reef to 50 m, and caves in the gaps of the reef shelter spiny lobsters and are sometimes packed with cardinalfish. Yellowtail fusiliers, Napoleon wrasse, spotted eagle rays, marbled stingrays and purple anthias are seen.
