About this site
John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park sits off Key Largo in the upper Florida Keys, bordering the Atlantic side of the island and extending into part of the Florida Reef Tract. It was established as the first underwater state park in the United States, protecting a stretch of coral reef along with seagrass and mangrove habitat. The park includes multiple named dive and snorkel sites reachable by boat from Key Largo marinas, and diving within the park is generally rated beginner friendly.
