About this site
Koganezaki Oki no Ne (沖の根) is a boat-dive site 5 minutes from the harbour at Koganezaki, Nishiizu, on the west coast of the Izu Peninsula in Shizuoka, made up of the large Oki no Ne, Nishine and Ajine reefs. Early summer is eagle ray season, when the chance of seeing them approaches certainty and they come in groups rather than singly. In autumn visibility improves, amberjack and yellowtail amberjack circle, and the site's other signature, a stationary school of large red sea bream, is clearly seen, while seahorses and frogfish cling to the walls for macro.
