Koh Yak Lek

Koh Yak Lek is a small rocky island next to Koh Rang, inside a national marine park in the Koh Chang area of Thailand. It is a shallow dive site with excellent coral and abundant marine life, and it is also regarded as one of the best snorkelling locations in the area. The setting is attractive both above and below the water.

Terrain here is simple. Underwater, the bottom slopes from the edge of the island down to a white sandy floor that lies at 5 to 15 metres around the island. A standard dive circles the island and can easily last 60 minutes, so there is plenty of time to cover the whole circuit at a relaxed pace.

Marine life is abundant on the coral around the island. Large schools of fusiliers and yellow tail barracuda are often present, and divers can follow them along the reef. Many other exotic fish are seen here, protected by the national park status of the area.
