About this site
The Kyokuzan Maru is one of the Japanese ships sunk during the September 1944 American carrier raid on Coron Bay in Busuanga, Palawan, and lies in the same cluster of wrecks as the Okikawa Maru and Irako. It is generally reached by boat from Coron town and, like the other Coron Bay wrecks, its history ties it to the wartime supply fleet caught at anchor during the raid. The wreck sits on a sand bottom to a maximum depth of around 35 metres and is rated a technical dive. Divers have reported barracuda, batfish, fusilier, and trevally around the structure.
