L'Esquillade lies off Levant Island, part of the Hyeres Islands (Iles d'Or) on the Var coast of the French Riviera in Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur. This stretch of coastline is known for its rocky shores and steep underwater terrain, typically accessed by boat from ports around Hyeres. Divers here have reported Mediterranean beadlet anemones, Mediterranean moray eels, and nursehound sharks among the site's rocky ledges and crevices.
