About this site
La Herradura sits along the coastline of El Hierro, the westernmost and smallest of the Canary Islands, off the coast of Spain in the Atlantic. El Hierro's shores are volcanic, dropping steeply into deep water not far from land, and its dive sites are typically reached by short boat rides from towns such as La Restinga on the island's southern tip. The site itself has a rock bottom and reaches a maximum depth of around 21 metres, making it a beginner dive. Divers have reported barracuda, grouper, octopus, and wrasse around the rocky terrain.
