Malpelo Island sits far off Colombia's Pacific coast, roughly 500 kilometres west of the mainland, a remote volcanic outcrop surrounded by deep open ocean. La Pared del Tangon refers to a wall formation along this island, reached only by liveaboard given the island's isolation. The surrounding waters are protected as a marine sanctuary and fauna reserve.
