About this site
Lobos Island, or Isla de Lobos, sits in the narrow channel between Fuerteventura and Lanzarote in Spain's Canary Islands, just off the port of Corralejo. The small volcanic islet is uninhabited and part of a protected marine reserve, with the surrounding waters formed from Atlantic volcanic terrain typical of the archipelago. Boats to the diving grounds around it typically depart from Corralejo on Fuerteventura's northern coast. Diving here reaches a maximum depth of around 20 metres and is rated suitable for beginners, though the eastern side of the site has been known to bring on strong currents. Divers have also reported reef sharks in the waters around the island.
