About this site
Long Key Reef lies within Dry Tortugas National Park, off Bush Key in the far western Florida Keys, roughly 70 miles west of Key West. The park is only reachable by boat or seaplane, and its reefs sit in the open waters of the Gulf of Mexico surrounding the Tortugas island chain. Divers here have reported Atlantic blue tang, Brazilian cocoa damselfish, Caribbean bluehead wrasse, redband parrotfish, slippery dick, stoplight parrotfish, striped parrotfish, white grunt, and yellowtail snapper moving over the reef.
