Mas Thila is a thila, a submerged reef pinnacle rising from the atoll floor within Gaafu Alif Atoll in the southern Maldives. Thilas of this kind typically top out well below the surface and drop down along their sides in coral covered terraces cut with small caves and overhangs, drawing reef fish and pelagics that pass along the atoll's channels. Because the top of the reef sits deep and currents can run strongly across it, dives on this type of pinnacle are usually planned for divers with some experience.
