About this site
Maubara is a coastal village in Liquiçá municipality in East Timor, west of Dili along the road that follows the north coast toward the Indonesian border, known for its old Portuguese-era fort and church sitting near the shoreline overlooking the Wetar Strait. The Maubara Church dive site sits just offshore here, over a reef reaching a maximum depth of about 13.5 metres and rated a beginner dive. Divers have reported mackerel, nudibranchs, and tuna passing through the area.
