Moalboal House Reef (Sardine Run)

Moalboal's house reef sits directly off Panagsama Beach on the southwest coast of Cebu, and it is best known for the huge sardine bait ball that hovers over the shallow reef just offshore. The sardines can be reached with a simple shore entry and often stay close to the drop-off, making them accessible without a boat. The reef wall itself drops from shallow water down a slope, and divers commonly encounter turtles and reef fish along with the sardine school. It is rated a beginner dive, and the easy entry combined with the shallow depths at which the sardines are usually found makes it approachable for a wide range of experience levels, though boat traffic and the movement of the school are worth being aware of near the surface.
