Monarch

The Monarch was a wooden steel-hulled propeller freighter that wrecked on Blake Point at the northeast tip of Isle Royale in Lake Superior in 1906, driven onto the rocks in a storm while running for shelter. The wreck lies broken across a rocky slope near the point, with debris scattered from shallow water down to a maximum depth of about 21.3 metres as the bottom drops away. Isle Royale wrecks are known for excellent preservation thanks to Lake Superior's cold fresh water, and the Monarch's remains include boiler, engine, and hull sections identifiable among the rocks. Diving here is generally considered advanced, owing to cold water temperatures, depth, and the exposed location at the point where weather and current can build quickly.
