About this site
Tunnel Shita (トンネル下) is a shore-entry freshwater site on Lake Motosu in Fujikawaguchiko, Yamanashi. It is a lava-field site where, from the tunnel outward, a lava flow runs from the surface down to 30 m, one of the lake's three signature elements alongside sunken trees and spring water; maximum depth 30 m, average around 5 m, suitable from beginner level. Freshwater shrimp and bagrid catfish live in hollows in the lava, black bass and ayu occupy the shallows, and sculpins and gobies sit on the bottom.
