About this site

Museo Atlantico sits off the coast near Playa Blanca on the south side of Lanzarote in the Canary Islands, in the Atlantic Ocean. It is Europe's first underwater sculpture museum, created by artist Jason deCaires Taylor, with figurative concrete sculptures installed on the seabed from 2016 onward. The site lies at roughly 12 to 14 metres, making it accessible to divers with basic open water certification, and the sculptures have gradually taken on algae and marine growth as they age into artificial reef structures. It draws divers as much for the art and photography opportunities as for typical reef life, and access is regulated, with visits usually arranged through a limited number of licensed local dive centers.
