About this site
Nea Kameni is the small volcanic islet in the middle of the Santorini caldera in the Aegean Sea, Greece, formed by the same volcanic activity that shaped the surrounding cliffs. Diving here reaches a maximum depth of around 14 metres and is considered suitable for beginners, with the volcanic terrain around the islet shaping the underwater landscape. Divers have also reported hot springs near the site, a reminder that the volcano beneath Nea Kameni remains active.
