North Point

North Point is one of the well-known dive sites off Sipadan Island, off the east coast of Sabah in Malaysian Borneo, an island rising from a steep limestone pinnacle in the Celebes Sea. The site is known for its wall dropping into open water, with large schools of barracuda and jacks often seen along the drop-off, alongside green and hawksbill turtles that frequent the island generally. Grey reef sharks and occasional whitetip reef sharks are commonly reported patrolling the deeper blue water off the wall. The maximum depth here is around 25 metres, and it is rated a beginner dive, with much of the diving done over the upper reef while keeping the blue water below in view. Currents around Sipadan's points can be strong and unpredictable at times, so divers should still stay alert to conditions even on an easier site like this one.
