About this site
Teichiami (定置網) is a boat dive on a working set net at Onagawa on the Sanriku coast of Miyagi, with a maximum depth of 25 m and an average around 10 m. What is inside the net changes daily; blue sharks, ocean sunfish, loggerhead turtles, skipjack, mackerel, mahi-mahi, yellowtail, sardines, rays, skates, anglerfish, cutlassfish, John Dory and flying fish have all been seen. A free descent and solid neutral buoyancy are required, with no settling on the bottom or contact with the net.
