About this site
Ono Hirase (大野平瀬) is a boat dive at Hozaura in Minamiise on the Kii Peninsula coast of Mie, ten minutes from the harbour, with a maximum depth of 26 m. A channel runs offshore between two large reefs, and on clear days the terrain is the main draw. Striped beakfish and pineconefish sit in the crevices, Asian sheepshead wrasse turn up occasionally, and the reef walls carry soft coral and other growth in many colours. Suitable from beginner level.
