About this site
Warigamejima (割亀島) is a boat dive on the east side of the fishing rock of the same name at Owase on the Kii Peninsula coast of Mie, five minutes from the harbour, with a maximum depth of 28 m and an average around 13 m. Several large domes and arches open in the island's wall at about 10 m, sheltering big striped beakfish, opaleye, painted sweetlips and black sea bream as well as cowries and ovulid snails. Deeper there is plenty of soft coral and the crevices hold many spiny lobster, so the depth can be matched to the diver. Little current, suitable from beginner/novice level.
