About this site

P31 is a former Maltese patrol boat scuttled off Comino as a purpose-sunk dive attraction, part of the broader wave of decommissioned vessels placed around Malta and Gozo for recreational diving. It sits on a sand and wreck bottom with a maximum depth of around 20 metres, rated a beginner dive, which makes it a manageable wreck to circle in a single outing and reachable by boat from the Comino or Malta side. Its compact size and accessible openings have made it popular for exploring the interior, though divers should mind the sharp edges, sharp metal, and tight passageways that have been reported inside. Damselfish, nudibranchs, octopus, and scorpionfish are regularly seen on the hull, and divers have also reported flying gurnard, jacks and amberjack, lizardfish, lobster, moray eels, and stingrays around the wreck. Marine growth is still building on the structure, and visibility in the channel between Malta and Gozo tends to be good given the relatively exposed, current-flushed water there.
