Bound from Portage Entry to Buffalo with a load of stone, the Marsh began leaking badly during the night. The captain sent the crew up the masts and burned signal flares, alerting the Crisp Point Lifesavers. After a long hard row to the wreck, they came alongside just as the ship lurched and settled to the bottom. The woman cook was tossed into the wreckage, but the lifesavers charged in and rescued her, then began taking crewman from the masts to shore, a few at a time. Lifesavers stripped the wreck of everything useful over the next few days, but she was still a huge loss to her owners. Lies in about 4.6 m; sank 1896.
