Makronisos is a narrow island lying off the southeastern tip of Attica, near Lavrio and separated from the mainland by the Makronisos Strait, in the Aegean Sea. The waters around it are part of the Lavreotiki Municipality coastline, close to the historic mining town of Lavrio.
