About this site
Punta Pitt sits at the eastern tip of San Cristóbal Island in the Galápagos archipelago, marking one of the youngest volcanic points in the island chain. The site faces open Pacific water where the Humboldt and Panama currents converge, a mixing of cold and warm water typical of this part of the archipelago. It is reached by boat from the San Cristóbal side of the islands, with the surrounding cliffs and eroded tuff formations visible above the waterline. The dive here is rated for beginners, with a maximum depth of around 18 metres, making the reef below the point accessible without much difficulty.
