About this site
Ras Abu Galum is a coastal protectorate area northeast of Dahab, along the Sinai coastline facing the Gulf of Aqaba between Dahab and Nuweiba. The area is a nature reserve with a Bedouin settlement, reachable by boat or by camel and hiking trails along the coast, and the shoreline here is largely undeveloped compared to central Dahab. The dive site itself is a wall over a reef bottom, reaching a maximum depth of around 30 metres, rated intermediate with light current and great visibility. Eagle rays are a regular sighting along the wall, and divers have also reported angelfish, barracuda, butterflyfish, glassfish, mackerel, nudibranchs, octopus, parrotfish, sea turtles, snapper, trevally, tuna, and wrasse.
