About this site
Redang Island lies off the coast of Terengganu in Malaysia, in the South China Sea, and is part of a marine park archipelago on the peninsula's east side. It is reached by boat from jetties near Kuala Terengganu or Merang, and the surrounding waters are dotted with several smaller islands and reef patches typical of this stretch of coast. The wall here drops to around 60 metres over a reef bottom, and it is rated a technical dive with generally good visibility. Barracuda are common along the wall, and divers have also reported batfish, clownfish, frogfish, ghost pipefish, harlequin shrimp, manta rays, nudibranchs, seahorses, stonefish, tuna and even whales passing through.
