About this site
The Sainte Marie was a railroad car ferry that once ran between Mackinaw City and St. Ignace. It was purchased for use as a barge for hauling materials between Detour and Drummond Island. After several years of service she was abandoned in 1928. With poor visibility, a slight current, and protruding spikes and cables, this site is an entanglement hazard to divers. Lies in about 3 m; sank 1928.
