Sampalan

Sampalan is a small town on the northeast coast of Nusa Penida, the island southeast of Bali across the Badung Strait, and it serves as the administrative center of the district near the harbor used by boats crossing from Sanur and other points on mainland Bali. The dive site of the same name sits over a reef bottom with light current and a maximum depth of around 30 metres, rated as a beginner dive. Batfish are a reliable sighting here, and divers have also reported angelfish, barracuda, eagle rays, hammerhead sharks, leaf scorpionfish, manta rays, mantis shrimp, nudibranchs, octopus, scorpionfish, sea turtles, thresher sharks, tuna, and unicornfish. Fire coral has also been noted on the reef, so contact with the bottom is worth avoiding.
