About this site

San Francisco Wall lies off the west coast of Cozumel Island in Quintana Roo, part of the reef system running along the island's protected leeward side facing the Yucatan Channel. The site is a drift dive along a wall that drops from a shallow reef shelf into deeper water, reaching a maximum depth of around 37.5 metres, and it's rated a beginner dive with the current typically carrying divers along the reef edge. Eagle rays, nurse sharks, and sea turtles are regularly encountered along the drop-off, and divers have also reported damselfish, moray eels, parrotfish, reef sharks, and wrasse on the wall face. Cozumel's walls in this stretch are known for their sponge and coral growth, and the site is generally reached by boat from the town of San Miguel.
