About this site
Sandy's Plateau lies along the Jan Thiel coastline on the south side of Curaçao, a stretch of shoreline known for easy shore-entry reef diving. Curaçao's leeward coast here is lined with a fringing reef that slopes toward deeper water, typical of the shore-accessible sites around Jan Thiel and Caracasbaai. Divers have reported French angelfish, stoplight and striped parrotfish, bluehead wrasse, French grunt, and trumpetfish along the reef, along with sergeant majors and blue tangs moving over the coral. Giant anemones and patches of lettuce coral have also been spotted among the reef structure here.
