About this site
The Abrolhos Islands sit off the southern coast of Bahia, Brazil, forming the country's largest marine national park and a rare stretch of coral reef this far south in the Atlantic. Santa Catarina would be one of the dive sites scattered among this archipelago, reached by boat from the town of Caravelas or from Porto Seguro further north. The area is known for its coral formations called chapeirões, mushroom-shaped reef structures found in these waters.
