About this site
Shaab Shehr is a reef system off the coast of Safaga, in Egypt's Red Sea Governorate, typically accessed by boat from Safaga's dive centers along a stretch of coastline known for its scattered coral reefs and pinnacles. It reaches a maximum depth of around 30 metres and is rated a beginner dive over a reef bottom. Barracuda, surgeonfish, and tuna are common here, and divers have also reported angelfish, bannerfish, eagle rays, fusiliers, grouper, lionfish, parrotfish, snapper, sweetlips, triggerfish, and wrasse around the reef. Current can pick up at the exposed corners, and the deeper outer slopes and wall sections are reportedly more demanding than the shallower reef top.
