About this site
Shimba Hills is a reef site off Pemba Island, part of the Zanzibar Archipelago in the Tanzanian channel of the Indian Ocean, an area otherwise known for steep drop-offs and channel currents along its coral-fringed coastline. This particular site is shallower and gentler than that, with a maximum depth of around 12 metres and a rating suited to beginners. Fusiliers and triggerfish are common on the reef, and divers have also reported sweetlips here.
