About this site
The Shinkoku Maru lies in Chuuk Lagoon (Truk Lagoon), Micronesia, one of the many Japanese vessels sunk during the US Operation Hailstone air raids in February 1944. It is a well known wreck within the lagoon's fleet, resting on the seabed with its structure largely intact and heavily encrusted with coral growth. The site has a maximum depth of around 20 metres and is considered an intermediate dive, making it accessible to divers with some wreck experience without requiring advanced certification.
