About this site
South Yalku is the southern section of Yalku Lagoon, an inlet just north of Akumal on the Caribbean coast of Quintana Roo in Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula. The lagoon forms where freshwater from the coastal aquifer mixes with seawater, and it lies close to the shoreline road linking Akumal to the rest of the Riviera Maya. Diving here reaches a maximum depth of about 11.3 metres and is rated a beginner site.
