About this site
Xaak is a reef dive site off Akumal on the Quintana Roo coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, rather than one of the inland cenotes typical of the region's limestone country. It reaches a maximum depth of around 29 metres over a reef bottom and is rated an advanced dive, with visibility generally reported as great. Sea turtles are a regular sighting here, and divers have also reported barracuda, lionfish, and nurse sharks on the reef.
