About this site
The Spiegel Grove lies off Key Largo in the Florida Keys, in the Atlantic waters near the northern stretch of the reef tract. It was a US Navy amphibious landing ship, deliberately sunk as an artificial reef in 2002 after decommissioning, following a mishap during scuttling that briefly left it lying on its side before it later settled fully. The wreck sits at depth on the sea floor and is a popular technical and recreational wreck dive out of Key Largo, penetrated by experienced divers exploring its holds and passageways. It is considered an advanced dive.
