About this site
Stingray World sits inside the protected lagoon off Moorea in the Society Islands of French Polynesia, known for the stingrays that gather there and are commonly encountered by divers and snorkelers in calm, shallow water. Blacktip reef sharks are also frequently seen circling the same area, along with clownfish and, on occasion, eagle rays. The site is rated a beginner dive to a maximum depth of around 18 metres, and while the lagoon setting generally keeps conditions gentle, divers have reported a strong outward current here, so it pays to stay aware of drift toward the reef pass.
