Rarotonga is the main island of the Cook Islands in the South Pacific, ringed by a fringing reef and lagoon typical of the group's volcanic islands. Ta'akonka would lie along this reef system off the Rarotongan coastline, accessed from one of the island's shore points or dive operators based near the surrounding villages.
