About this site
Taketomi Island sits south of Ishigaki in the Yaeyama island group of Okinawa Prefecture, at the southwestern end of Japan's Kyushu region administrative area. The waters surrounding the island are part of a coral reef system typical of the Yaeyama chain, reached by boat from ports on Ishigaki or Taketomi itself.
