About this site
Nakanoshima (ナカノシマ) is a cave site reached by boat from Tanabe on the Kii Peninsula of Wakayama, with depths of 16 to 28 m. A large arch and dead-end caves are the terrain, and the arch fills with sweepers in huge numbers, while soft corals are abundant and the rare weedy scorpionfish and gorgonian shrimp have been seen. Intermediate and above.
